ELDER CARE GUIDES

Elder Care Guides is currently seeking a professional Live-In caregiver to join our team! Under general supervision, this position provides a variety of non-medical services including personal care, socialization, and light housekeeping duties that allow an elder to remain in their home environment.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Assist with bathing, dressing, and grooming of client on a routine basis.
• Assist with toileting and incontinence issues of client as needed.
• Provide stabilization and assistance with walking as needed, including transferring client to bed, chairs, wheelchair, etc., as required.
• Manage dementia and Alzheimer's related behaviors, (i.e., wandering, paranoia) as required.
• Prepare meals and clean-up meal-related items.
• Provide medication reminders and appointment reminders.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, making beds, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, and laundry.
• Accompany client to personal and medical appointments.

SPECIFIC POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• One year of elder care experience, with at least 6 months of experience with Live-In work; or, equivalent experience and education in a certified CNA program
• Experience working with client(s) with dementia
• Able to lift, push, or pull 25 lbs.
• Able to withstand exposure to dust, mold, and cleaning solutions
• Able to treat and care for clients and their property with dignity and respect, and communicate with elders in a friendly, professional manner
• Able to appropriately communicate with co-workers and supervisors in English, both written and spoken
• Able to plan and complete assigned duties within allotted timeframes, and work independently
• Able to drive own fully-insured vehicle
• Able to provide minimal pet care (for two dogs)
• Able to adapt to various living environments and locations, and stay overnight for a minimum of 2 consecutive days
• This position will be 3-4 days/week, and all applicants must be able to work at least one weekend day
